Opening Day!

Today was the day my first box of wine was arriving. It was like Christmas for adults. What variety was I going to get? Where were they going to be from?

What food was I going to to prepare? SO many questions and joyful anticipation. One thing I can tell you for sure, getting a box of wine in the mail is a lot more exciting than the usual junk mail and bills.

It's arrived! What a pretty sight, the box is all gold and white swirls and contains two reds and two whites from around the globe, including Spain and Australia. No more wandering around the liquor store looking for something delicious and different to give as a gift. Usually picking by label as I am pretty visual, but there are so many labels to pick from!

The tasting notes were fantastic, full descriptions of what awaits your palate and what dishes to best serve the wines with. All the guesswork taken out of it, which for me is a really big deal because I will not actually be indulging in any of these bottles, but my friends sure will. So having a master wine taster tell me what best to pair with these lovely vintages with is magical.

The Bellarong from from Australia is a 2016 Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon blend is perfect to serve now but will keep well until 2020. This careful blend marries the elegance and complexity of the Cab Sav with the richness and ripeness of the Shiraz, so my notes tell me. Ideally suited to Beef, Pasta and Pizza this is a great bottle for any hostess or dinner party occasion.

I could go on and on but I'll save it for next month when I get to do this all over again : )
